Cuthona poritophages Rudman, 1979

Identification:
This is a small, cream animal frosted with brown on its notum. Its
cerata have brown cores and faint white rings.
Natural history:
We haven't seen Cuthona poritophages on Maui but
Larry Harris has recorded it from the Big Island. It's a nocturnal Cuthona that feeds on corals of the
genus Porites rather than
hydroids.
Distribution:
Big Island: widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific.
Taxonomic notes:
First recorded in Hawaii from the Kona Coast of the Big Island by Larry
Harris.
