Cuthona sp. #13
Maximum size: 5 mm.
Identification:
This Cuthona has a
translucent body densely streaked with opaque white lines. The cerata
are slender with opaque white lines shading to a translucent tip. The
rhinophores have white tips and an orange subapical band. There is a
pink patch behind the rhinophores and an orange line on the front of
the head that extends onto the bases of the cephalic tentacles.
Natural history:
All of the four known Cuthona
sp. #13 were found in Halimeda
kanaolana beds at depths
of 6-11 m (20-36 ft). It lays a white egg mass.
Distribution:
Maui.
