Cuthona sp. #7
Maximum size: 5 mm.
Identification:
This is a translucent aeolid with opaque white covering the
top of the head and extending in patches medially along the notum. The
cerata have very thin, tightly-packed white lines extending from their
bases to just below their tips. The pale orange digestive gland
can be seen within each ceras between the lines. The rhinophores and
cephalic tentacles have white tips and translucent-orange bases.
Natural history:
Cuthona sp. #7 is
a rare aeolid that has been found in exposed rocky locations at 12 m
(40 ft) and in moderately protected rubble areas at 33.5 m (110 ft).
Distribution:
Maui: also known from Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.

First recorded in Hawaii off Makena, Maui by PF on April 26, 1993.
