Volvarina unilineata
Maximum size:  3 mm shell length (Kay, 1979).

Identification:  This is a small, elongate species with a translucent shell and obscure sutures. The animal is white and the eyes are black.

Natural history:  Volvarina unilineata is a moderately common species found in rocky habitats at moderately protected to moderately exposed sites. It's nocturnal and may be sporadically common at some sites.

Distribution:  Big Island, Maui and Kauai: widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific.

Taxonomic notes:  It's listed in Kay, 1979, as Volvarina fusiformis. (Note 1) It's listed in Severns, 2011, as Volvarina nevilli.

Photo:  CP: Hekili Point, Maui; Oct. 5, 2002.

Observations and comments:

Note 1:  The description of the live animal in Kay, 1979, appears closer to Dentimargo pumila and vice versa. Perhaps, they were transposed?
