Maximum size: about 7 mm.
Identification:
The
body of this aeolid is translucent-white with opaque white on the
head and notum. The cerata are translucent with scattered opaque-white
tubercles. Bright yellow digestive glands and
translucent-white cnidosacs can be seen
within
the cerata. The rhinophores
and cephalic tentacles are translucent red-brown and there are a few
low,
opaque white tubercles on their posterior faces near their tips. The red-brown color may become more pronounced with age.
Natural history:
Tenellia sp. #12
is known from two animals. The first was found in Halimeda kanaloana
at 32 m (105 ft). The second was found on a moderately exposed, shaded rock wall at 12 m (39 ft).
Distribution:
Maui and Oahu.
Taxonomic notes:
It was first recorded in Hawaii from Makena, Maui by PF on Aug. 30, 1995 and was formerly placed in the genus Cuthona.
